SENIORS

Seniors are classed as U14 and above. The age groups are recognised as follows:

Youth

U14 & U15

They can participate in mixed team events at carnivals (ie - 1 x u14 and 2 x u15's).

Main equipment needed for water - Mal paddle board.

To compete at Carnivals and States - you will need your SRC.

 

Seniors

U17, U19 & Open

Main equipment needed for water - Mal paddle board and Ski

To compete at Carnivals and States - you will need your Bronze Medallion.

EQUIPMENT HIRE/PURCHASE/STORAGE

We have Mal club boards and Club single and double skis available to use for sessions.

 

Storage is only available for Senior mals and skis - this is due to our confined spaces.

We have a hire board program with board storage available: but spaces are limited.

Pathways once you become a senior

 

SRC - SURF RESCUE CERTIFICATE

 

This course provides participants with skills and knowledge of surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations and resuscitation in order to participate in lifesaving operations and act in the role of Water Safety Personnel.

We will hold this course at the club for the U14 age group.

Some kids will be able to complete their SRC in U13's due to when their birthdate is.

BRONZE MEDALLION

The Bronze Medallion course provides participants with the skills and knowledge in order to be able to participate in Surf Life Saving patrol operations. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia.

We will hold this course at the club for the U15 age group.

Age requirement is to be at least 15 years of age on the final assessment date

NOT INTERESTED IN COMPETING AT CARNIVALS OR TRAINING WITH THE COMPETITION GROUP.....

No problem!

We have many seniors/masters who are not interested in competing at carnivals - but still want to have a casual paddle and learn new skills. 

You are still welcome to complete your SRC/ Bronze Medallion and join a Patrol group.

 

We have seperate training group with Shane Tatham running several times a week.

Attend every sessiont or casual - the choice is yours.\

Monday and Wednesdays - from 4.30pm - 6pm with Shane 

Sunday -  from 8.30am - 10am with Shane and Kelly

 

FIRST AID (FA)

This course will equip candidates to act quickly and confidently in an emergency situation. The course focus includes casualty assessment, one and two person CPR, choking, situation management and emergency services communication.

First Aid aims to develop the knowledge and skills for a person to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support. The course includes CPR.

Qualification:

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

  • HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

  • HLTAID009 Provide CPR

Pre-requisites:

Minimum 14 years old on the day of final assessment

LSV’s first aid course focus includes cover the signs and symptoms and treatment options for incidents including CPR, shock, bleeding, crush injuries, burns, fractures, sprains and strains, spinal injuries, breathing and heart conditions, diabetes and seizures.

ADVANCED RESUSCITATION TECHNIQUES (ART)

Advanced Resuscitation aims to provide participants with the necessary skills, knowledge and applications to use advanced resuscitation techniques. It is specifically designed for individuals wishing to safely administer oxygen by facemask or mechanical resuscitator to a breathing or non-breathing casualty.

 

Qualification:

  • HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy

  • HLTAID009 Provide CPR

Award:

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART)
Resuscitation (CPR)

Pre-requisites:

Minimum 15 years old on the day of final assessment

Current HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

Outcome:

Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to use oxygen resuscitation, bag value mask and suction equipment in an emergency.

INFLATABLE RESCUE BOAT CREW (IRBC)

Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an IRB in rescue operations.

Award:

Inflatable Rescue Boat Crew (IRBC)

Pre-requisites:

Minimum 15 years old on the day of final assessment

Current Bronze Medallion

INFLATABLE RESCUE BOAT DRIVER (IRBD)

Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive an Inflatable Rescue Boat in rescue operations.

Award:

Inflatable Rescue Boat Crew (IRBC)

Pre-requisites:

Minimum 17 years old on the day of final assessment

Current Bronze Medallion
Current Victorian Marine License
Current Inflatable Rescue Boat Crew (IRBC)
